Dribbling the ball in midfield in the final moments of AC Milan’s game against Chievo yesterday, with no one around him, David Beckham suddenly pulled up lame and limped off the field. Milan scored a late winner to take the game 1-0, but the story of the match was Beckham’s diagnosis: a torn left Achilles tendon that will require surgery and keep him out at least five months. He has been ruled out of this summer’s World Cup and could miss all of the Los Angeles Galaxy’s 2010 season.
