The Columbus Crew got goals from Leandre Griffit, Jason Garey, and the underpaid Steven Lenhart in a dominating 3-0 win over the man on the street Joe Public of Trinidad and Tobago in CONCACAF Champions League group play.
Here are the highlights:
The win puts Columbus in second place in Group B with six points, one behind Santos.
In Costa Rica, Seattle Sounders FC faced a critical game at the notoriously difficult Saprissa Stadium, aka The Monster’s Cave.
They were holding their own until the 38th minute, when defender Leo Gonzalez—a Costa Rican, btw—received a red card for raking Saprissa’s Jairo Arrieta with his cleats.
The home side took control after that and went on to win 2-0, a result that effectively eliminates Seattle from the CCL. They have zero points from three games, with three to play.
