MLS Playoff Pairings Set

Major League Soccer dropped the curtain on its regular season last night, but not before delivering a final scene worthy of Harold Pinter. There were stunning reversals, two hat tricks, a midfielder playing goalkeeper and the playoff picture hung in the balance until the very last game, last night at the Home Depot Center.

Below is the first-round, first-leg schedule. For a complete wrap up of Week 30, click here and check out our column at the MLS site.

Columbus vs Colorado (Thurs, 9:00 p.m. EST, ESPN2)

New York vs San Jose (Sat, 10:00 p.m., TeleFutura)

Real Salt Lake vs FC Dallas (Sat, 5:00, FSC)

Los Angeles vs Seattle (Sun, 8:00, ESPN2)

The midfielder playing in goal, by the way, was the Crew’s Eddie Gaven. He donned the keeper gear when Will Hesmer was hurt in the 86th minute of the Crew’s 3-1 win over Philly, after Columbus had used all its substitutes.

Gaven made two saves and was torched by a screamer from Sebastien Le Toux at the top of the box.
